MY TOP 10 WAYS TO STICK TO YOUR FITNESS GOALS

So with the new year having come and gone, I think it’s safe to say that so has a lot of people’s fitness goals. If they haven’t, hey, congratu-muthafuckin-lations, keep it up.

However, if you are just embarking on a fitness journey, I know first hand that it is not easy. With daily schedules, stress, it can all add up to seem that you have no room for motivation or time for maintaining a good physique. NOTICE HOW I SAID SEEMS unrealistic. So with that being said here are some tips and motivation on maintaining a good physique.

1) GET OUTTA YA DAMN HEAD

Getting to the gym and being mindful of what you put in your body is just as much, if not more, mental than physical. You THINK you don’t have time to go to the gym or workout at home. You THINK that you won’t get any stronger. You THINK  you will give up. No, stop thinking and just do it. Whether you grind for 30 minutes or 90 minutes, put some effort in and I’m telling you, once you see results, you will get addicted and only want more, and you WILL work harder and harder. But first you just gotta start. Walk before you can run.

2) START THINKING LONG TERM

All this shit out there. 30 day shred, p90x, 6 week 6 pack. DROP!IT!ALL! I tried it all and all it does is fuck with your head and your wallet. It’s not sustainable. Why? because there’s a time cap on it, and that puts a time cap in your head. “Oh once I’m done with this program I’m set for life.” No you’re not. Yeah your body might change, but then what? You gonna do it all again? watch the same DVD’s over and over again? No you’re gonna get sick of it and give up, or, finish it, and then be like “now fuckin what?”

3) DO YOUR RESEARCH

“I don’t know what to do?” Bullshit, that is laziness and an excuse. Hey, ever heard of Google? Ever heard of youtube? Take any question you have, type it into google or youtube and VOILA. Within 10 minutes you will have deduced it all down to the answer you are looking for. Don’t get helpless, it does nothing for anybody.

4)Operate from a place of Self-love rather than self-hate

Why? Because results are gonna come and go at different paces, and if they start slowing down here and there, and you’re thinking negatively, you got a bad recipe for failure. But seriously, your body is BEAUTIFUL whatever shape, size, height, etc. Think of everything you can do. Giving your body the gift of strength and confidence and health is so,  so, so good for the body but more importantly the mind. Once you realize how much your body can do and how powerful you can be, I’m telling you, it’s insane. You just have to start.

And do it for you. Don’t do it for a vacation, or a boyfriend, or a job, do it because you love you and you want to be the best that YOU can be.

5)STOP OVER COMPLICATING IT

The harder something is…lets be real…the less likely we are to gravitate towards it. So start off simple. Make mistakes, get stronger, THEN do more. But take it one day at a time. Don’t think you have to follow a million different programs, stop thinking you have to follow this diet, stop thinking you have to eat this food 3 times a day every other day of the week. You’re gonna drive yourself crazy. Live your life, make subtle changes and the rest will fall into place.

6)FOOD IS OUR FRIEND. WE LIKE FOOD. FOOD UNDERSTANDS.

Stop. cutting. food. out. of. your. life. Fuck low carb. Fuck Atkins. fuck low fat. fuck high fat. fuck paleo. Fuck detoxes. Fuck cleanses. Fuck fad diets. FUCK! IT! ALL! GUESS WHAT? A calorie is a calorie. 400 calories of pizza will make you gain just as much weight as 400 calories of spinach. Now, you may stay fuller from the spinach, but that’s a different story. What does it come down to? Protein and Calories. Get your protein to maintain/ build muscle, and then stop worrying so much about carbs, and fats, and all that BULLSHIT. Find out how many calories you can eat to maintain, gain, or lose weight (There’s a post on here about that OMG) and then fill up those calories and protein however. you. want. Fun Fact: you are usually able to eat a lot more food than you think.

7)WORKOUT WITH A PLAN

Whether you workout at a gym, or you workout at home, find a routine, or make a routine. But don’t go into any workout empty, you will end up wandering around doing shit. If you have a routine and are new, look at the plan and look at all the exercises. Any exercises you don’t know how to do, youtube it. In a nutshell, prepare, and go into your workout knowing what you are doing.

8, 9, and 10) HAVE PATIENCE

You are gonna fall off track. You are gonna have tough days. You are gonna have easy days. You’re gonna slack off. But at the end of the day, quitting must not even be an option. Nothing worth it is free or easy. You’re body can, realistically put on 2 lbs of muscle a month, and lose, healthily and sustain-ably, 1 to 2 lbs a week. Nothing happens over night. Just work hard, and you WILL see results.
